Volunteer Services

Hospice volunteers are ready and able to provide you with assistance as well.  Generally, HSWO volunteers offer two to four hours per week of their time and are available by appointment.  They are mature, caring and compassionate members of our community who have received specialized HSWO training.  Their intent is to lessen some of the stress you face each day.

What can a volunteer do?

HSWO volunteers can provide you with companionship for your loved one.  A volunteer may read, run an errand, simply sit and watch TV or converse with a family member while you take care of pressing matters.

Volunteers may NOT give baths, dispense medication, or change bed linens.  These tasks are provided by the caregiver, the patient's nurse, or the hospice aide.  Specialized training is required for these tasks.

If I need a volunteer, who do I call?

We feel that your family becomes our family.  If you feel a volunteer could be of help, contact our Volunteer Director at (580) 248-5885 and someone will be happy to assist you with your request.
